Seiya Suzuki is nearing a rehab assignment after sustaining a right knee injury during the World Baseball Classic.
The Chicago Cubs outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list in March 2025 with a right knee injury. Suzuki sustained a mild sprain of the posterior cruciate ligament in his knee on a stolen-base attempt in the first inning of Team Japan's quarterfinals loss to Venezuela on March 14 in the World Baseball Classic.
In the 2024 season, Suzuki posted career highs with 32 home runs, 71 walks, and 103 RBIs while recording 31 doubles and a .478 slugging percentage. The right fielder hit three home runs with a .613 slugging percentage in eight postseason games.
The Cubs are determining whether Suzuki will join Double-A Knoxville or Triple-A Iowa for his rehab assignment.
