Zack Wheeler was simply untouchable Sunday in Detroit. The Philadelphia right-hander held the Tigers to two hits over six innings, struck out 10, and walked away with his 10th win of the season as the Phillies blanked Detroit 5-0 at Comerica Park.

Wheeler threw 96 pitches, allowed two walks, and did not surrender a run. His ERA: 2.13. The bullpen covered the final three innings without allowing a run, completing the combined shutout. Wheeler improved to 10-1 on the season.
The offense gave Wheeler all the support he needed. In the third inning, Realmuto scored on a single by Kyle Schwarber to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead. The Phillies broke the game open in the sixth, when Realmuto's double to left scored Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh — with Alec Bohm also scoring on a throwing error by shortstop McGonigle — putting the Phillies ahead 4-0. Bryson Stott then reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Realmuto to make it 5-0. Realmuto finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Schwarber went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Stott added 2 hits and an RBI.
Tarik Skubal absorbed the loss, falling to 5-5. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, striking out 5 and walking 1 on 93 pitches. Detroit's bullpen gave up 3 more runs over the final four innings, finishing off a difficult afternoon for the Tigers, who managed only 2 hits on the day.
Philadelphia improved to 54-43, extending its winning streak to two games. Realmuto, who now has 33 RBI and 7 home runs on the season, is 10 doubles away from 300 career doubles. Skubal, meanwhile, is 22 strikeouts away from 1,000 for his career. Detroit fell to 44-52, dropping its second straight.
