Sanchez was the story. The left-hander worked seven innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk on 103 pitches. He picked up his 11th win against 4 losses, carrying a 2.62 ERA into the All-Star break. Duran followed with a clean ninth inning for his 24th save of the season.
Philadelphia opened the scoring in the third when Hill scored on a Trea Turner sacrifice fly to center, giving the Phillies a 1-0 lead. The fourth inning did the real damage. J.T. Realmuto doubled to left, scoring both Stott and Marsh to make it 3-0, and Hill then singled to left to score Realmuto and push the lead to 4-0. Detroit never recovered from that four-run cushion.
Casey Mize absorbed the loss, allowing 4 runs — 3 earned — on 5 hits over 5.2 innings with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. Detroit's offense managed only isolated responses: Eduardo Valencia homered to right center in the fifth, and Vierling scored on a Torkelson groundout in the eighth, but the Tigers never threatened to close the gap.
