Monasterio was the offensive catalyst, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and 2 RBI. His fourth-inning blast to left, 378 feet, scored Caleb Durbin and gave Boston a lead it would not relinquish. Yoshida added the finishing touch in the eighth, a 360-foot shot to right that again scored Durbin, who crossed the plate twice on the night. Yoshida finished 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBI.
Boston's pitching matched the offense's efficiency. Eduardo Rivera held the Mets to 1 hit over 3.2 scoreless innings to open the game, and the bullpen covered the remaining 5.1 innings without allowing a run.
