The Cubs erased a five-run deficit to defeat Pittsburgh 7-6 on Carson Kelly's walk-off single in the ninth inning at Wrigley Field. Chicago trailed 6-2 entering the eighth before scoring four runs in the final two innings to complete a stunning comeback.

Brandon Lowe powered Pittsburgh's early attack with two home runs and five RBIs. His grand slam in the second inning gave the Pirates a commanding 5-0 lead after Oneil Cruz opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first. Lowe added a solo homer in the fifth to extend Pittsburgh's advantage to 6-2.

The Cubs began their rally in the eighth when Michael Busch singled to left, scoring Suzuki and Swanson on a throwing error by left fielder Reynolds to cut the deficit to 6-4. In the ninth, Kelly singled to center to bring home Kingery with the winning run.

Jose Urquidy took the loss for Pittsburgh, allowing one run on three hits in just one-third of an inning. Daniel Palencia earned the win for Chicago with a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two while allowing one walk.

Chicago improved to 7-8 and snapped a losing streak. Pittsburgh fell to 9-6 after losing for the first time in their last two games.
