The game was decided before most fans had settled into their seats. Houston sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning, scored six runs, and never trailed again in an 8-5 win over Miami at Daikin Park.

Yordan Alvarez carried the Astros' attack, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and two RBIs. His blasts came in the second and fifth innings, part of a night that left him sitting at 496 career runs, four shy of 500. Jeremy Pena did the heaviest lifting in the decisive frame, driving in four runs on a home run to right field, finishing 1-for-4 on the night.
Miami actually struck first. Joe Mack homered to right in the second inning, scoring Marsee, to put the Marlins up 2-0. Houston answered in the bottom half. Taylor Trammell singled to bring home Wade Jr., then Pena's homer to right scored Diaz, Dezenzo and Spence to make it 5-2 and flip the game for good. Alvarez added a solo shot to right center on the very next at-bat to cap the outburst at 6-2. The Astros tacked on insurance the rest of the way: Alvarez's second homer in the fifth and a Jose Altuve single that brought home Paredes in the seventh pushed the lead to 8-4.
Miami starter Janson Junk lasted four innings, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and taking the loss to fall to 4-6. Houston's Ronel Blanco was uneven in his own outing, working 4.2 innings and allowing 4 runs on 2 hits while striking out 8, leaving without a decision. The Marlins clawed for offense late, with Hicks homering to right in the fourth to score Edwards, and Hernández's ninth-inning single driving in Sanoja, but it was not enough to erase the early deficit.
Houston's bullpen covered 4.1 innings and allowed 1 run, with Enyel De Los Santos picking up his first win of the season after striking out 2 over 1.1 scoreless innings. The Astros improved to 48-54, snapping in with a first win after their previous result, while Miami fell to 52-49 and has now lost seven straight.
