The Yankees and Pirates traded the lead twice in the third inning before New York's power finally settled things, 8-5, at Yankee Stadium. Jazz Chisholm supplied both swings that mattered, going deep twice and driving in five runs in a game that never stayed still for long.

Chisholm finished 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. His first blast, a three-run shot to right center in the first inning, came right after Ben Rice scored on a throwing error by left fielder Reynolds. His second, a two-run drive to right in the third, put the Yankees back on top for good. Chisholm is batting .228 with 16 home runs and 43 RBI on the season.
Pittsburgh had answered in the second and third innings to seize a brief lead. Jared Triolo's ground-rule double scored O'Hearn and Ozuna in the second, and Nick Gonzales added an RBI single to make it 3-4. In the third, Esmerlyn Valdez homered to right center, scoring Reynolds and putting the Pirates ahead 5-4. But Chisholm's second homer immediately erased that edge, and Jose Caballero followed with a ground-rule double that scored Domínguez and McMahon to push the margin to 5-8.
Pirates starter Braxton Ashcraft did not survive the third inning, allowing 8 runs, seven earned, on 9 hits over 3.0 innings with a walk and two strikeouts, taking the loss to fall to 9-4 on the season. Yankees starter Ryan Weathers was also unsteady, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits over 4.2 innings, but the bullpens on both sides settled things down: Pittsburgh's relievers covered 5.0 innings without allowing a run, while New York's four relievers combined for 4.1 scoreless innings to close it out.
The win pushed New York's win streak to two games, improving the Yankees to 56-44. Pittsburgh, which had won its previous outing, dropped to 52-49 with the loss.
