The game turned in the sixth inning. San Diego led by three when the Padres sent eight men to the plate, pushed four runs across, and made the outcome a formality. The Arizona Diamondbacks never recovered from that burst, falling 10-4 at Petco Park before 39,423 fans.

Michael King was the foundation. He worked six innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4 on 92 pitches. The win moved him to 6-7 with a 3.41 ERA. The Padres' bullpen covered the final three innings, allowing 3 runs.
Miguel Andujar was the offensive engine. He went 3-for-4 with three doubles and 2 RBI. His double in the fourth scored Campusano to give San Diego a 2-1 lead — the go-ahead run the Padres never surrendered. In the sixth, Andujar scored on a single by Sung-Mun Song, part of the four-run frame that blew the game open. Luis Campusano added a solo home run to left center in that same inning, his fourth of the season, and finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Xander Bogaerts singled home Fernando Tatis and Jackson Merrill in the fifth to push the lead to 4-1, and Merrill drove in 2 on the night. Jase Bowen capped the seventh with a single that scored Andujar for the 10th run.
Arizona starter Jose Cabrera lasted just 4.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He fell to 0-2 with a 5.60 ERA. The Diamondbacks managed 10 hits but could not convert them into runs against King. Tommy Troy's two-run homer to left center in the seventh provided a measure of consolation, and Max Kepler's RBI double in the eighth made it 10-4, but the deficit was long past manageable by then.
Nolan Arenado went 3-for-4 for Arizona but drove in no runs. He is 7 hits away from 2,000 career hits. San Diego improved to 46-46 with their second straight win. Arizona dropped to 45-47, losing for the second consecutive game.
