Nothing separated the teams for seven innings. Then Joey Bart hit one 422 feet, and the game was over.

Bart's two-run homer to left center in the eighth — with Mike Yastrzemski scoring ahead of him — was the only offense either side needed. It came after Jared Jones had given Pittsburgh exactly the kind of start that deserved a win. Jones worked 6.0 innings without allowing a hit, a walk, or a run, striking out 8 on 77 pitches. Most nights, that wins. Wednesday was not most nights.
The Pittsburgh bullpen could not hold what Jones built. Dennis Santana allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in the eighth, taking the loss and falling to 2-4. In the ninth, Drake Baldwin singled to center to score Michael Harris, extending Atlanta's lead to 3-0. Raisel Iglesias closed it out with a scoreless ninth — 2 strikeouts, 1 walk — for his 18th save of the season.
Atlanta's starters and relievers combined to shut Pittsburgh out on 4 hits. Grant Holmes started for the Braves and went 5.0 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. The Braves' bullpen covered the final 4.0 innings without allowing a run. Dylan Dodd picked up the win in relief, earning his first win of the season with a scoreless inning of work.
Atlanta improved to 53-38. Pittsburgh fell to 47-46.
