Nothing was settled until the very end at Truist Park. The New York Mets rallied from a 3-2 deficit twice in the final two innings, beating the Atlanta Braves 7-6 in ten innings on Monday night before 31,445 fans. It was a game that turned on a single swing in the ninth and a clutch double in the tenth — and Atlanta, despite a heroic answer each time, could not hold on.

Matt Olson carried the Braves offense. He went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI, accounting for three of Atlanta's six runs. His solo shot in the third extended the lead to 3-1, and his two-run homer in the ninth — with Ozzie Albies scoring — tied the game at 5-5 and sent Truist Park into a frenzy. Olson entered the game hitting .273 with 24 home runs and 57 RBI on the season. Michael Harris added three hits and two RBI in six at-bats.
The Ninth and Tenth
The Mets were trailing 3-2 entering the ninth when Juan Soto changed everything. Soto homered to right, a 430-foot blast, with Taylor and Mauricio scoring to give New York a 5-3 lead. Olson answered immediately with his two-run shot, tying it at 5-5. In the tenth, Luis Torrens doubled to left, scoring Bichette and Young to put the Mets ahead 7-5. Harris pulled Atlanta within one with a run-scoring double in the bottom half, but the Braves could not complete another comeback. Soto finished 1-for-2 with three walks, one home run, and three RBI, carrying a .301 average with 19 home runs and 46 RBI on the season. Torrens, in his only at-bat, drove in two with the go-ahead double.
Reynaldo Lopez started for Atlanta and allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 5.0 innings, striking out five. He did not factor in the decision. Freddy Peralta started for New York and gave up 3 runs — 1 earned — on 6 hits over 4.2 innings with six strikeouts. The Braves bullpen allowed 6 runs over 5.0 innings, and the Mets' relievers covered 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs. An unnamed Atlanta reliever took the loss, his first of the season, allowing 2 runs in 1.0 inning with a 9.00 ERA.
Ozzie Albies reached 100 career stolen bases in this game. Bo Bichette, who went 2-for-5, is one hit away from 1,000 career hits. The Mets improved to 38-53 and have won two straight. Atlanta fell to 52-37, dropping their second consecutive game.
