The game was effectively over before the third inning began. Philadelphia erupted for three runs in the first and four more in the second, building a lead that Miami never threatened until a cosmetic two-run seventh. The Phillies won 8-2, with the offense doing its damage early and Jesus Luzardo handling the rest.

Luzardo was the beneficiary of that cushion, but he earned his sixth win on his own terms. He worked seven innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, walking 2 and striking out 9 on 106 pitches. Now 6-4 with a 4.31 ERA, he is also 3 wins away from 50 career victories.

Alec Bohm was at the center of the early damage. In the first, Marsh scored on Bohm's single to right, and Stott's triple to right brought home Harper and Bohm to make it 3-0. In the second, Brandon Marsh homered to center — 402 feet — with Sosa aboard to push the lead to 5-0. Bohm then homered to center (447 feet), scoring Schwarber, and the Phillies led 7-0 before Miami had recorded an out in the third. Bohm finished 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Marsh went 1-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Kyle Schwarber added a solo home run to right in the fourth, his 25th of the season, to set the final margin at 8-0 before Miami's late reply. Bryson Stott contributed 2 RBI on his triple.

Tyler Phillips absorbed the early punishment for Miami. He lasted just 4 innings, allowing all 8 Philadelphia runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, striking out 4 on 79 pitches. He falls to 1-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Esteury Ruiz provided the only Miami offense, homering to left in the seventh — 358 feet — with Jiménez scoring, finishing 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Philadelphia moves to 38-33, sitting second in the division. Miami stands at 36-36, fourth in the division.
