Philadelphia built an early lead with three home runs in the first three innings and survived a late San Diego rally for a 4-3 victory Monday night at Petco Park.

Aaron Nola earned the win with six innings of work, allowing 2 runs on three hits while striking out five. The right-hander improved to 3-4 with a 5.72 ERA. Jhoan Duran closed out the ninth inning for his 11th save, striking out two in a perfect frame.

The Phillies struck quickly in the opening frame when Harper homered to right. Realmuto followed with a solo shot in the second inning, and Turner added another homer in the third. Bohm singled to center and Harper scored to extend the lead to 4-0.

Randy Vasquez absorbed the loss for San Diego, giving up 4 runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings. His ERA stands at 3.28. The Padres mounted a comeback attempt when Machado homered in the fourth and Sheets scored, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Laureano homered in the eighth to pull within one run, but San Diego could not complete the rally.

Philadelphia snapped a losing streak and improved to 27-27. San Diego fell to 31-22, extending their losing streak to two games.
