Corbin Carroll led the assault with two home runs and three RBIs, going 2-for-4 with a walk. His first homer came in the fourth inning, a two-run shot to right center that traveled 431 feet and extended Arizona's lead to 5-0. Carroll struck again in the sixth with a 448-foot blast to right center. Lourdes Gurriel contributed two RBIs on a pair of hits, including a solo homer in the fifth inning that reached 379 feet to left field.
The Diamondbacks built their advantage through a series of timely hits. Arenado singled Carroll home in the third inning, then Gurriel drove in Perdomo with another single to left. Vargas extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth when Moreno scored on his single to center, setting up Carroll's decisive two-run homer.
