Alec Bohm carried the offense with a 3-for-4 performance that included two home runs and four RBI. His first homer tied the game 1-1 in the third, then he added a second solo shot in the fourth and capped his night with a two-run double in the eighth. Kyle Schwarber provided the decisive blow with a three-run homer in the third that gave Philadelphia a 4-1 lead it never relinquished.
The Rockies struck first when Willi Castro homered to right in the second inning. But Philadelphia answered immediately in the third. Bohm's solo shot to left tied it, then Schwarber launched a three-run blast to right that scored Stott and Turner. Sosa's RBI single brought Garcia home to complete the four-run outburst.
Kyle Freeland absorbed the loss for Colorado, allowing 7 runs in 5.0 innings despite walking none. The Rockies managed just six hits against Philadelphia's pitching staff. Tim Mayza earned the win with one-third of an inning of scoreless relief.
Philadelphia snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 17-22. Colorado's two-game winning streak ended as they fell to 16-23. Mayza reached 400 career games played in this game.
