The Blue Jays recalled Brandon Valenzuela from Triple-A in a corresponding move to placing Alejandro Kirk on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb fracture.

Valenzuela, 25, was acquired in a trade with the Padres in July 2025. The team added him to the 40-man roster in November 2025. He posted a .304/.370/.478 line with one home run in 27 plate appearances during Spring Training in 2026.

The catcher has shown defensive prowess with a 33.8% caught-stealing rate since the start of 2024, including a 35.7% rate at Triple-A. After striking out at a 30.5% clip in 105 plate appearances with Toronto's top affiliate in the 2025 season, he has cut his strikeout rate to 17.6% early in 2026.
