Right-hander Christian Roa was recalled to the majors to replace Brown on the roster.

Brown posted a 2.43 ERA with a 12-9 record in 31 games during the 2025 season. He earned his first career All-Star selection and finished third behind Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet in the AL Cy Young award race. Through two starts in the 2026 season, Brown had compiled a 0.84 ERA in 10 2/3 innings with a 39.5% strikeout rate.

The 27-year-old pitcher had established himself as a key component of Houston's rotation following his breakout 2025 campaign. Brown previously recorded a 3.49 ERA with an 11-9 record in 31 games during the 2024 season.
