The Game Network — Where History Is Kept

Valdez carries a lifetime .230/.288/.392 batting line in the majors with 14 home runs in 474 plate appearances. The 27-year-old appeared in 31 games for Pittsburgh in the 2025 season, recording 19 hits in 91 at-bats with 2 home runs and 12 RBI. He also had 102 plate appearances with Pittsburgh in the 2025 season.

In the 2024 season, Valdez played 76 games with 43 hits in 201 at-bats, hitting 6 home runs and driving in 28 runs. The left-handed hitter has spent most of his time at second base but also has experience at both infield corners and in both outfield corners.

Valdez was traded from the Houston Astros to the Boston Red Sox alongside Wilyer Abreu in the deal that sent catcher Christian Vazquez to the Astros in 2022. The Red Sox traded him to the Pirates in December 2024, acquiring minor league reliever Joe Vogatsky in return.
