The Colorado Rockies selected the contract of right-hander Valente Bellozo and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

To create a 40-man roster spot, the Rockies placed right-hander RJ Petit on the 60-day injured list. Bellozo signed a minor league deal with Colorado during the 2025-26 offseason that included an opt-out or upward mobility clause.

Bellozo allowed 11 earned runs in 15 2/3 innings during the 2026 spring training. He spent the previous two years in a swing role for the Miami Marlins, throwing 150 innings over 45 games including 19 starts with a 4.20 ERA. His 15.2% strikeout rate was below average, but he limited walks to a 6.8% clip.

Miami outrighted Bellozo off their roster at the end of the 2025 season, and he elected free agency before signing with Colorado.
