The Cardinals held the lead entering the seventh inning. They did not hold it long. Christian Yelich's double to left scored Cooper Pratt to put Milwaukee ahead 4-3, and that run proved to be all the Brewers needed in a 4-3 victory at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night.

Jacob Misiorowski was the story from the first pitch. The right-hander worked seven innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with no walks and 11 strikeouts on 103 pitches. With a 1.62 ERA, Misiorowski has been one of the most effective starters in the league this season, and Tuesday was no exception. He left with the game tied 3-3, but his bullpen finished the job. Abner Uribe worked a clean ninth — his sixth save of the season — and Misiorowski earned his 10th win against four losses.
St. Louis struck first. Jordan Walker homered to left in the first inning, a 386-foot shot that also scored JJ Wetherholt, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. Walker, hitting .290 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI on the season, went 1-for-4 on the night. Milwaukee answered in the third. Joey Ortiz doubled to left to score Pratt, then Yelich singled to center to bring home Ortiz and tie the game at 2-2. Ivan Herrera immediately restored the Cardinals' lead with a solo home run to left — 378 feet — making it 3-2. Herrera finished 2-for-4 with the homer and an RBI. The Brewers tied it again in the sixth when Garrett Mitchell singled to center to score Jake Bauers, a play that survived a Cardinals challenge. Then came the seventh, and Yelich's go-ahead double. He finished 3-for-5 with 2 RBI, both doubles among his three hits.
St. Louis's bullpen absorbed the damage. Ryne Stanek took the loss, falling to 2-2 on the season, allowing 1 run without recording an out in the seventh. The Cardinals' home starter Matt Svanson lasted just one inning before the bullpen took over, and four relievers combined to allow all four Milwaukee runs.
Milwaukee improved to 57-33 and has won three straight. St. Louis fell to 47-42, dropping its third consecutive game.
