Milwaukee's offense never found a way in. Zach Thornton and three relievers made sure of it, holding the Brewers to four hits over nine innings as the Mets took a 4-0 win at American Family Field.

Thornton was the story. Over 6.0 innings, he allowed just three hits and no runs, walking one and striking out two on 81 pitches. It earned him his first win of the season, pushing his record to 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA. The bullpen picked up where he left off, covering the final three innings without allowing a run.
New York got what it needed early. Jared Young homered to right center in the second inning, a solo shot that turned a scoreless tie into a 1-0 lead the Mets would not surrender. They added to it in the fifth when Carson Benge doubled to right, scoring both Bo Bichette and Francisco Lindor to make it 3-0. Luis Robert closed out the scoring in the eighth with a solo homer to left center, his blast traveling 451 feet.
