The game stayed within reach for four innings, and then it didn't. Milwaukee broke it open with four runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh, building a cushion that a furious ninth-inning rally from Miami could not quite erase. The Brewers held on for an 8-6 win.

Jackson Chourio started the decisive sixth with a two-run single that put Milwaukee ahead for good, scoring Ortiz and Shewmake. Garrett Mitchell followed with a double that brought home Chourio and Yelich, turning a one-run deficit into a three-run lead in the span of one inning. Mitchell finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and Chourio added two RBIs of his own to go with two runs scored. Christian Yelich kept the seventh-inning rally going with a double that scored Pratt and Shewmake, extending the margin to 8-3.
Miami had taken the early lead in the second inning, when Jiménez singled home Sanoja, Mack's fielder's choice grounder scored Hicks, and Lopez added a sacrifice fly to score Jiménez, staking Max Meyer to a 3-0 cushion. Milwaukee answered in pieces, first on a Shewmake sacrifice fly and then on a Contreras double that scored Chourio in the third, before the sixth-inning burst turned the game.
Miami wasn't finished. Griffin Conine hit a three-run homer to left center in the ninth, plating Hicks and Jiménez to make it 8-6 and pull the Marlins within two. But it was too little too late — closer Trevor Megill had already worked a scoreless eighth, and the deficit held. Max Meyer allowed 2 runs (2 earned) over 3.0 innings in the loss for Miami, and the bullpen behind him gave up 6 runs across 5.0 innings, with Calvin Faucher charged with the loss after allowing 4 runs (4 earned) in just 0.2 innings.
Shane Drohan earned the win for Milwaukee, allowing 3 runs (3 earned) over 6.0 innings with 9 strikeouts, improving to 5-3 with a 3.20 ERA. Megill picked up his 15th save of the season. The win pushed Milwaukee to 61-37, extending its winning streak to two games and holding the top spot in its division, while Miami fell to 52-47 with its losing streak now at five games.
