Braden Montgomery was the offensive centerpiece, going 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to right and four RBI on the night. Kyle Teel added a 2-for-4 effort with two runs scored and two RBI, while Sam Antonacci contributed a solo home run as part of the first-inning surge. Noah Schultz handled the pitching side, working five innings and allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks on 74 pitches to earn his third win of the season.
The First Inning
Shea Langeliers gave Oakland a brief lead with a solo home run to left, 411 feet, to open the scoring. The White Sox answered immediately. Antonacci tied it with a home run to right. Then Teel singled to right, scoring Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas to put Chicago ahead. B. Montgomery capped the inning with a three-run shot to right, scoring Andrew Benintendi and Teel and pushing the lead to 6-1. Ginn lasted just 4.1 innings, allowing 8 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks before departing with a 7-6 record and a 3.67 ERA.
Chicago added three more in the fifth. B. Montgomery singled home Colson Montgomery, Benintendi scored on a fielder's choice by Tristan Peters, and Teel crossed the plate on a throwing error by Langeliers. Oakland's bullpen covered 3.2 innings but allowed 1 additional run. The White Sox bullpen was spotless over the final two frames.
Chicago improved to 50-45 and has won three straight. Oakland dropped to 41-55, extending its losing streak to nine games.
