Nothing got through Jake Bennett on Wednesday night. The Boston right-hander held the Chicago White Sox hitless through the early innings and finished with seven scoreless frames, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out four on 81 pitches. The Red Sox did the rest in a tidy 5-0 win at Rate Field.

Bennett picked up his fourth win of the season against three losses, carrying a 2.64 ERA. He needed only 81 pitches to navigate seven innings, and the two relievers who followed him kept the shutout intact, combining for two scoreless innings to close it out.
Boston's offense came alive in the third. Jarren Duran reached and scored when Tsung-Che Cheng singled to center, giving the Red Sox a lead they would not relinquish. Ceddanne Rafaela then doubled to center, scoring Cheng, and Anthony Seigler crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Davis Martin to cap a three-run inning. The Red Sox added two more in the fourth — Masataka Yoshida scored on a single by Narváez, and Cheng singled to right to bring home Caleb Durbin. Cheng finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Rafaela went 2-for-5 with an RBI double, and Durbin was 2-for-3 with a double.
Davis Martin absorbed the loss, falling to 9-4. He allowed all five runs on six hits over four innings, walking two and striking out two on 84 pitches. His ERA stands at 3.41. Chicago's bullpen covered the final five innings without allowing a run, but the damage was already done.
Boston has now won five straight and moved to 42-48. The White Sox dropped to 47-44 with their second consecutive loss.
