Justin Foscue and Alejandro Osuna carried the Rangers offense on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field. Foscue finished 2-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBI, while Osuna went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, 3 RBI and a walk. Foscue's solo shot in the seventh tied the game at 3-3, setting the stage for what followed. Osuna's blast to right — 364 feet — capped the decisive eighth with three runs, pushing the final margin to 8-3.
The Eighth Inning
With the score knotted at 3-3, Ezequiel Duran singled to left to score Josh Smith and give Texas its first lead of the night. Foscue followed with another single to left, scoring Jake Burger to make it 5-3. Then Osuna ended it: his three-run homer to right scored Duran and Foscue, turning a one-run edge into a five-run cushion. Sam Bachman absorbed the damage, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits in just two-thirds of an inning to take the loss and fall to 1-2.
The Angels had built an early advantage. Jorge Soler's double to left scored Nolan Schanuel in the first, and Josh Lowe singled home Soler to make it 2-0. Texas answered in the second when Nicky Lopez singled to left, scoring Evan Carter and Osuna to tie it at 2-2. Los Angeles reclaimed the lead in the seventh on Wade Meckler's single to left, which scored Oswald Peraza — but Foscue's homer immediately answered. Jose Soriano had kept Texas in check through six innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts over 93 pitches, but received no decision. Jacob deGrom started for Texas and went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts, also without a decision. Peyton Gray earned the win in relief, improving to 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA.
Texas improved to 46-45. Los Angeles, now 36-56, has dropped seven straight.
