The game was essentially decided before the first out of the second inning. San Francisco's four-run first set the tone at Coors Field on Saturday, and despite Colorado's best efforts to claw back, the Giants held on for a 6-4 win over the Rockies before 48,635 fans.
Robbie Ray anchored the effort, working 6.0 innings and allowing 3 runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks. He picked up his eighth win of the season against six losses, carrying a 3.45 ERA. Caleb Kilian worked the ninth, allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 2, and earned his eighth save of the year.
The Giants wasted no time. Arraez scored on Jung Hoo Lee's fielder's choice to open the scoring, then Willy Adames doubled to left, bringing home Lee and Casey Schmitt to push the lead to 3-0. Bryce Eldridge followed with a double to left, scoring Adames and making it 4-0. Colorado answered in the bottom half when Cole Carrigg homered to left — a 393-foot shot — scoring Hunter Goodman and Tyler Freeman to cut the deficit to 4-3. San Francisco extended the lead in the second when Luis Arraez singled to right, scoring Heliot Ramos, and Eldridge added a solo home run to right center — 458 feet — in the third to push the margin to 6-3. TJ Rumfield's single in the ninth scored Carrigg for Colorado's final run.
Sean Sullivan absorbed the loss, his third of the season against no wins. He lasted 5.2 innings, surrendering 6 runs on 12 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks, with an ERA of 8.22.
Carrigg finished 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI for Colorado, while Eldridge went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and 2 RBI for San Francisco. Arraez was 3-for-5 with an RBI, hitting .330 on the season. San Francisco fell to 36-51 after snapping a previous win. Colorado, despite the loss, remained at 36-53 with a three-game winning streak snapped.
