Cleveland answered in the fourth when Daniel Schneemann homered to right — 386 feet — with Bazzana, Manzardo, and Rocchio all scoring on the play, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Milwaukee responded immediately: Chourio homered to right, scoring Hamilton, to push the lead back to 4-7. The Brewers added 2 more in the eighth on an Andrew Vaughn double that scored Contreras and a Cooper Pratt single that scored Frelick, closing out the 9-4 final.
Gavin Williams absorbed the loss for Cleveland, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits over 5.0 innings, with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. He falls to 9-4 on the season with a 3.83 ERA. Cleveland managed only 3 hits on the night and fell to 39-34.
Milwaukee has now won two straight and holds first place in their division. Cleveland, at 39-34, dropped their second-place standing after the loss.
