The Cubs needed extra innings to complete their comeback. Pete Crow-Armstrong homered twice, including a ninth-inning blast that forced extra frames, and Michael Busch delivered the walkoff hit in the 10th as Chicago defeated San Francisco 3-2 at Wrigley Field.
Crow-Armstrong went 4-for-5 with two home runs and two RBI, carrying the Cubs offense throughout the night. His first homer in the sixth inning answered Rafael Devers' solo shot that had given the Giants the early lead. His second, a 403-foot blast to right field in the ninth, erased San Francisco's 2-1 advantage and sent the game to extra innings.
The decisive moment came in the 10th when Busch singled to right, and Dansby Swanson scored on a fielding error by right fielder Victor Bericoto. The Giants had taken their second lead of the night in the ninth when Matt Chapman hit a sacrifice fly to center, bringing Jung Hoo Lee home.
Ryan Rolison earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning, striking out two while allowing one walk. Sam Hentges suffered his first loss of the season, allowing the walkoff hit without recording an out. Ben Brown pitched 5.1 scoreless innings for Chicago, allowing just one hit with five strikeouts and carrying a 1.74 ERA.
Chicago snapped a losing streak and improved to 33-31. San Francisco's three-game winning streak ended as they fell to 26-38.
