Scott allowed one run on five hits with two walks across five innings, carrying a 2.97 ERA. The right-hander dominated Miami's lineup while working efficiently through 96 pitches to secure the victory that improved his record to 1-0.

The Mets broke through in the fourth inning when Vientos doubled to left, scoring both Soto and Young for a 2-0 lead. Semien followed with a single to center that brought Vientos home, extending the advantage to 3-0. Young added a solo homer to right in the sixth, and Senger connected for his own solo shot to left center in the seventh before Soto capped the scoring with an RBI single.
