The ninth inning belonged to Colorado. Trailing 6-3 entering the bottom of the frame, the Rockies erupted for five runs to stun San Francisco 8-6 at Coors Field, with Ezequiel Tovar delivering the decisive blow on a walk-off two-run homer.
Tovar went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI, carrying a .220 average into the game. His first homer in the eighth inning brought Colorado within 4-3, and his 406-foot blast to left field in the ninth completed the remarkable comeback. The ninth inning turned on Goodman's three-run homer that tied the game 6-6 after the Giants had extended their lead to 6-3. Devers tripled to right to score Arraez, then Chapman singled to right to bring Devers home for what appeared to be the decisive runs. But Goodman's 414-foot blast to left field brought Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman home to even the score before Tovar's walk-off shot scored Castro.
Jung Hoo Lee paced San Francisco's offense with a 4-for-5 performance, carrying a .283 average. The Giants built their lead through timely hitting, with Adames hitting a sacrifice fly in the third, Susac adding another sacrifice fly in the fourth, and Bader singling to right to score Lee in the same inning.
