Miguel Vargas ended it with one swing. His two-run homer in the 10th inning lifted Chicago past Detroit 4-3, capping a game that needed extra innings to find its winner.

The drama began early when Dillon Dingler homered to left center in the third inning, scoring Zack Short for a 2-0 Detroit lead. Troy Melton dominated for seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits with one strikeout and carrying a 1.42 ERA. Drew Anderson took the loss after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning. Bryan Hudson earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning.

Chicago improved to 29-27 and extended its winning streak to two games. Detroit fell to 22-35.
