The game was over in the first inning. Nolan Arenado launched a grand slam 403 feet to left field, scoring Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll and Gerardo Perdomo to give Arizona a 4-0 lead it never relinquished in a 12-2 rout of San Francisco.
Arenado went 1-for-4 with four RBIs, his seventh home run of the season. Gabriel Moreno added a two-run homer in the fifth inning and finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Ryan Waldschmidt collected three hits in four plate appearances, including two doubles, while Marte contributed two hits and two RBIs.
Arizona extended its lead throughout the middle innings. Tim Tawa singled home Ildemaro Vargas and Moreno in the third inning to make it 7-2. Moreno's two-run blast in the fifth pushed the advantage to 9-2, followed by Waldschmidt's RBI double and Marte's run-scoring infield single. The Diamondbacks capped the scoring when Marte came home on an error by shortstop Willy Adames.
Zac Gallen earned the victory with six innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five. His ERA stands at 5.33. Robbie Ray absorbed the loss for San Francisco, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits over 4.1 innings. Ray is now 3-6 with a 4.28 ERA and sits 13 innings away from 1,500 career innings pitched.
Arizona snapped a losing streak to improve to 22-23. San Francisco fell to 20-27 despite entering the game with a two-game winning streak.
