Cincinnati had seized control in the fifth inning with three runs. Sal Stewart walked to bring Blake Dunn home and tie the game 2-2, then Spencer Steer doubled to center, scoring Ke'Bryan Hayes and Elly De La Cruz to put the Reds ahead 4-2. Dane Myers had earlier homered to right field in the third to cut Cleveland's early lead to 2-1.
Joey Cantillo allowed 4 runs over 5.0 innings for Cleveland, walking four while striking out four. Sam Moll took the loss for Cincinnati, allowing 1 run in 1.1 innings. Erik Sabrowski earned the win with a scoreless one-third inning, while Cade Smith recorded his 14th save.
Cleveland snapped a one-game losing streak and improved to 24-22. Cincinnati's two-game winning streak ended as they fell to 24-21.
