Two runs were enough in a pitcher's duel that belonged to Randy Vasquez. The Padres right-hander scattered four hits over six scoreless innings to lead San Diego past Seattle 2-0 at T-Mobile Park.
Vasquez (5-1) allowed no walks and struck out three across 79 pitches, carrying a 2.68 ERA. He matched zeros with Emerson Hancock through the first three innings before San Diego broke through in the fourth.
Miguel Andujar doubled to left in the fourth inning, bringing Gavin Sheets home for the game's first run. Andujar went 2-for-4 and later scored the insurance run in the seventh when Sung-Mun Song grounded out to first, advancing Ramon Laureano to second in the process.
Hancock (3-2) absorbed the loss despite allowing just one run over six innings. The Seattle starter gave up five hits and one walk while striking out six on 91 pitches. Mason Miller closed out the final 1.1 innings for his 14th save, striking out four.
San Diego snapped a one-game losing streak to improve to 25-18. Seattle fell to 22-23 after winning their previous game.
