The fourth inning changed everything. Milwaukee scored five runs in a single frame to erase a 2-1 deficit and beat San Diego 6-4 at American Family Field.
Joey Ortiz led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. His solo shot in the third inning opened the scoring, and his sacrifice fly in the fourth helped cap the decisive rally. Brice Turang delivered the biggest blow of the inning, doubling home two runs to extend Milwaukee's lead to 6-2.
The Padres struck first in the second when Nick Castellanos singled home Xander Bogaerts and Gavin Sheets to take a 2-1 lead. But Milwaukee answered immediately. Sal Frelick singled home Jake Bauers and William Contreras to reclaim the lead at 3-2. Ortiz followed with his sacrifice fly to score Garrett Mitchell, then Turang's double brought home David Hamilton and Frelick.
Brandon Sproat earned the victory despite allowing 3 runs over 5.1 innings, striking out six. Matt Waldron took the loss for San Diego, surrendering 6 runs on eight hits in just 2.2 innings. Miguel Andujar provided late offense for the Padres with a solo homer in the sixth and an RBI double in the eighth, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Milwaukee extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 22-16. San Diego's two-game winning streak ended as they fell to 24-16. Fernando Tatis is nine runs away from 500 career runs scored.
