The game was decided before Arizona could settle in. Milwaukee scored three times in the first inning and cruised to a 13-1 victory over the Diamondbacks at American Family Field, snapping a one-game losing streak with their most dominant offensive performance of the season.
William Contreras carried the attack with a perfect 4-for-4 night, adding a home run and four RBIs. The catcher doubled home Mitchell for the game's first run, then scored on Rengifo's two-run double that made it 3-0. Contreras homered in the third inning, a 419-foot shot to center that scored Turang and extended the lead to 5-0. He added an RBI single in the fourth and scored twice more as Milwaukee piled on 14 hits.
The Brewers struck immediately against Michael Soroka, who lasted just three innings while allowing 10 hits and eight runs. Contreras doubled to left to score Mitchell in the first, then Rengifo doubled to center to bring home Bauers and Contreras for a 3-0 advantage. Milwaukee added two more in the third on Contreras' homer and another run on Rengifo's groundout, building a 6-0 cushion before Arizona managed its only run.
Soroka absorbed the loss, falling to 4-1 with a 4.70 ERA after surrendering eight runs in three innings. The Diamondbacks managed just six hits and committed two errors in their most lopsided defeat of the season. Gurriel Jr. drove in their lone run with a fourth-inning single that scored Carroll.
Milwaukee improved to 15-14 while Arizona fell to 16-13. Gurriel Jr. remains five RBIs away from 500 career RBIs after his lone RBI in the loss.
