Hunter Goodman carried the Rockies offense with two home runs and three RBIs, going 3-for-4 with a walk. His solo shot in the fifth extended Colorado's lead to 5-0, then his two-run blast in the seventh pushed the margin to 7-0. Goodman now has nine home runs and 14 RBIs this season while batting .269.
The avalanche began when Sullivan doubled to right, bringing Castro, Doyle and Goodman home for a 3-0 lead. Castro added another run in the third with a double to center that scored Doyle. The Rockies broke it open with a six-run ninth inning, highlighted by Tovar's two-run single and Moniak's RBI ground-rule double.
Tomoyuki Sugano earned the victory with 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing four hits while walking three and striking out two. His ERA stands at 2.84. Brandon Williamson absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs on four hits over three innings with four walks and four strikeouts. His ERA: 6.11.
Cincinnati managed only two runs on Will Benson's ninth-inning homer that scored Tyler Stephenson. The Reds fell to 19-10 despite entering with the division lead, while Colorado improved to 13-17.
