The Cubs erased a four-run deficit in the final three innings, stunning the Dodgers 6-4 at Dodger Stadium to extend their winning streak to nine games. What looked like a comfortable Los Angeles lead became Chicago's most dramatic comeback of the season.
Dansby Swanson carried the Cubs' rally with four RBIs on two hits. He tripled home three runs in the seventh inning, then delivered the decisive blow with a two-run homer in the ninth. Swanson is hitting .198 this season with six home runs and 21 RBIs.
The comeback began in the seventh when Swanson tripled to center, scoring Ballesteros and Crow-Armstrong to cut the deficit to 4-2. Hoerner followed with an RBI single to left, bringing Swanson home and making it 4-3. Bregman tied the game in the eighth with a solo homer to left center. Swanson then homered to left in the ninth, scoring Crow-Armstrong for the winning margin.
Emmet Sheehan dominated for six-plus innings, striking out 10 while allowing just one earned run on four hits. His 101-pitch effort kept the Dodgers in control until the late innings. Tanner Scott took the loss after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning, carrying a 2.38 ERA. Ryan Rolison earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief.
Chicago improved to 16-9 and extended their winning streak to nine games. Los Angeles fell to 17-8 after winning their previous game.
