Luis Gil controlled the strike zone and Giancarlo Stanton provided the offense as the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-0 at Fenway Park on Monday night.
Gil earned his first win of the season, allowing just two hits over 6.1 innings with three walks and two strikeouts. The right-hander carried a 4.11 ERA into the game and threw 83 pitches in his dominant performance.
Stanton homered to left field in the second inning to give New York the early lead. He struck again in the sixth, doubling to center field as Judge and Rosario both scored to extend the advantage to 3-0. Grichuk doubled home Bellinger in the eighth inning for the final margin.
Connelly Early took the loss for Boston, allowing five hits and three runs over 5.1 innings. Early walked three and struck out four while throwing 92 pitches. His ERA stands at 2.88.
The Yankees extended their winning streak to three games and improved to 13-9. Boston snapped a winning streak and fell to 9-13.
