The Yankees built an early 3-0 advantage through Aaron Judge's solo homer in the first and Trent Grisham's two-run single in the second that scored Chisholm and Caballero. The Angels responded with solo homers from Adam Frazier in the third and Logan O'Hoppe in the fifth before Trout's decisive blast.
Jack Kochanowicz pitched effectively for Los Angeles, allowing three runs over 6.2 innings with six strikeouts and carrying a 3.47 ERA. Jordan Romano took the loss after surrendering two runs in one-third of an inning, with his ERA at 8.44. Luis Gil allowed four runs in five innings for New York with a 7.00 ERA.
New York improved to 9-8 after snapping a losing streak. Los Angeles fell to 9-9 despite the strong start from Kochanowicz.
