Lowrance said during the press conference that he models his offensive approach after Freddie Freeman, emphasizing mindset over mechanics. "I try and model myself off Freddie Freeman," he stated, adding, "I've really kind of dove into his mindset and his approach cuz I think that's as big a part of it as mechanics." On the defensive side, Lowrance noted that Corey Seager serves as his model, specifically admiring how Seager plays efficiently despite his tall frame: "you would never know that he's as tall as he is cuz he just plays super smooth and he's big on fielding one-handed and just being athletic out there."
Lowrance acknowledged that his primary physical development goal is finding the right balance as he grows. "I'm 6'5, I have a big frame, but I'm definitely not filled out and I definitely haven't tapped into the power that I think is coming," he explained, adding that he is "trying to find the balance between getting big and getting stronger, but also staying athletic so I can stay at shortstop." He mentioned that if significant size gains eventually move him off the position, he would accept that outcome, but said his current plan is to remain at shortstop.
Lowrance described a pre-draft relationship with the Dodgers that developed over several months. He noted that he spoke with area scout Will Howard as far back as the winter before the 2026 draft, and later attended the MLB Draft Combine where he met with Dodgers front office personnel. "Went to the combine and met with a lot of their front office and I really loved them," he said. He also credited a support system in Greenville for significant recent strides in his development.
