Yamamoto noted that of his 10 strikeouts, seven were swinging strikeouts, and credited his splitter for much of his effectiveness. "My splitter was under control, so I was able to pitch with confidence," he said. He also explained that even pitches that were slightly elevated in the zone resulted in foul balls or outs, which helped him maintain his composure throughout the game.
Yamamoto stated that his mental approach on the mound never changes. "Retiring one batter at a time — that never changes. My mindset is always the same," he added. He acknowledged that he allowed two hits in the first inning and faced a jam early, but said he remained composed throughout. Regarding pitch sequencing, Yamamoto explained that he and his teammates discussed various scenarios carefully while avoiding over-thinking, working through the game collaboratively.
When asked whether he intentionally ends innings with strikeouts to build rhythm, Yamamoto flatly denied any such intent. "I have absolutely no such intention. Every batter is the same," he stated.
