Tommy Edman praised Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts at a team press conference on July 1, 2026, the night Roberts reached 1,000 career wins as a manager.
"It's such a crazy accomplishment. 1,000 wins is just unbelievable if you think about it. You know, it couldn't happen to a better guy," Edman said. Edman, who has played for multiple managers throughout his MLB career before joining the Dodgers, added that he has loved every minute playing for Roberts since arriving in Los Angeles.
Edman noted that Roberts's ability to keep the atmosphere light throughout a 162-game grind stands out as a key element of his managerial approach. "He's just a really easy guy to communicate with. Really easy guy to play for," Edman explained, adding that Roberts's personable nature allows everyone to feel comfortable and perform at their best.
On the same night Roberts achieved the milestone, Edman went 4-for-4 at the plate. He attributed the performance to favorable pitch selection and preparation, stating, "I just got a lot of good pitches to hit and I was ready."
Looking ahead, Edman mentioned his focus remains on maintaining a consistent, situation-dictated approach at the plate — "making sure I'm keeping the same good approach, kind of dictated by the situation" — as the Dodgers continue through the 2026 season.
