Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed the injury statuses of Kyle Tucker and Dalton at a press conference on June 22, 2026, after the Dodgers became the first team in the 2026 season to reach 50 wins.
Roberts described Tucker's lower back spasm as day-to-day and said no imaging is planned. He noted that he removed Tucker from the game after observing him during his at-bat and on the bases. "I saw a little bit of wincing and kind of when he was jogging down to first base and then once he got to second base, I think it was just more of just not seeing him move the right way," Roberts said. Tucker himself told Roberts he has had the back spasm before and has played the next day in past instances. When asked whether Tucker had experienced the issue with the Dodgers, Roberts gave a short snort before answering, "Not with us. No," indicating the injury history predates Tucker's time with the team.
On Dalton, Roberts explained that a foul tip squared him up and left him groggy, leading the training staff to recommend his removal. Roberts stated that Dalton passed the concussion protocol test but must repeat it in 24 hours, adding, "I would say it's pretty unlikely he'll be in there tomorrow." To guard against being short-handed, Roberts noted the team plans to call someone up, though he was unsure who at the time of the press conference.
Roberts also praised Eric Lauer, who he credited with six no-hit innings of work. "I don't think he had his best stuff, but I think that he did a good job of changing speeds, executing pitches and letting those guys put the ball in play," Roberts said. He also highlighted Dalton's recent stretch of strong play, noting that Dalton had been controlling the zone, avoiding pitches below the zone, and getting into favorable counts.
Reflecting on the team's 50-win milestone, Roberts attributed the achievement to depth and mindset. "There's a lot of things that we can't control, health, performance. So it's just guys got to be ready when called upon," he stated, adding that the accomplishment speaks to the Dodgers' resilience and their approach of continuing to move forward through setbacks.
