Justin Wrobleski earned his eighth win of the 2026 season during a press conference appearance on June 17, following a dominant start against the Tampa Bay Rays that concluded in under one hour and 52 minutes.
Wrobleski said during the press conference that his approach against a low-strikeout team like the Rays was straightforward: "When you see a team that doesn't strike out a ton, you just got to fill up the zone and you got to make good pitches." He added that his early-inning strategy centered on attacking the top of the order with his best stuff, noting he touched 97 mph and struck out Camaro among the early batters. "Come out firing and throw your best stuff early, because obviously the top of the order is typically the best hitters," he stated.
Wrobleski acknowledged the possibility of earning an All-Star selection but explained that his focus stays on what he can control each outing. "My goal is always to go out there and throw up as many zeros as I can, and if I do that, I think we got a good chance with our offense," he noted, adding that the Dodgers defense has been strong all season. He also credited the organization's approach to pitcher health, explaining that the Dodgers "do a great job to try and protect your arm and keep you ready for September baseball and October." Wrobleski also praised Rasmus Hochstad, his counterpart in the pitcher's duel, calling him "a really, really good pitcher" and one of the top arms in the league.
Chucky called a great game behind the plate, Wrobleski acknowledged, crediting the battery work as part of the performance. The quick finish — under one hour and 52 minutes — carried practical value as well. "Under two hours is pretty cool, especially when we got a noon game tomorrow," Wrobleski mentioned.
When asked about sharing a clubhouse with Shohei Ohtani, Wrobleski did not hesitate. "He's the best player of all time, I think. And it's just been really fun to watch, and I think I'm just super lucky and blessed to be able to be his teammate," he said. Wrobleski enters his next start as the Dodgers' win leader in the 2026 rotation.
