Davey Lopes passed away at age 80. The former second baseman and longtime coach spent nearly five decades in professional baseball as a player, manager, and coach.

Lopes finished his playing career with 1,671 hits, 155 home runs, and 557 stolen bases in 7,340 plate appearances over 1,812 games. His 557 stolen bases rank 26th on the all-time list. He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and managed the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2000 season.

Prior to the 1982 season, he was traded to the Athletics, beginning the journeyman phase of his career. He also played for the Cubs and Astros, continuing past his 42nd birthday before transitioning to coaching roles with multiple organizations.
