Cubs right-hander Cade Horton will undergo season-ending UCL surgery and miss the remainder of the 2026 season. Horton has a torn ulnar collateral ligament and was placed on the 15-day injured list.
This marks the second UCL reconstruction for Horton, who had his first procedure in 2021 while in college, missing his freshman season at Oklahoma. Horton was called up to the Cubs in mid-May 2025 and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting.
Horton posted an 11-4 record with a 2.67 ERA in 23 games during the 2025 season. He delivered 118 innings with a 2.67 earned run average in his rookie campaign.
The Cubs will proceed without Horton in their rotation plans for the 2026 season. He will be transferred to the 60-day injured list when the Cubs need to open a 40-man roster spot.
