Detroit sits at 47-54 on the season, good for fourth place in the AL Central, 6.5 games back and riding a one-game losing streak. The Tigers currently carry 13 pitchers on the active roster, along with six infielders, five outfielders and two catchers.
This marks Flaherty's second IL stint of the year, having been activated on July 9 after an earlier injury-related absence that began June 14. Earlier this season, Flaherty crossed the 3,000 career innings-pitched-in-outs threshold on April 9 and reached 200 career games on May 17.
