The Colorado Rockies placed Jose Quintana on the injured list with an elbow injury. The 37-year-old left-handed pitcher had been dealing with elbow discomfort before being sidelined.
Quintana has struggled in nine starts this season, posting a 2-3 record with a 5.27 ERA across 41.0 innings pitched. He has allowed 45 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 20 batters and walking 17, resulting in a 1.51 WHIP.
The Rockies sit at 20-35 (.364), ranking fifth in the NL West and 14.5 games behind the division leader. The team currently carries 13 pitchers, six infielders, four outfielders and three catchers on their active roster.
Quintana was previously activated from the injured list on April 17 before this latest setback. The veteran pitcher's absence further depletes Colorado's rotation depth during their challenging season.
