White Sox Place Austin Hays on Injured List with Calf Injury

The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Austin Hays on the injured list with a calf injury on May 5th.

The 30-year-old Hays was batting .233 with a .576 OPS through 12 games this season, recording 10 hits in 43 at-bats with one home run and seven RBIs. He had recently returned from a previous IL stint, being activated on April 28th.

The White Sox currently sit at 17-18 and third in the AL Central division, 0.5 games back. The team's outfield depth will be tested with Hays sidelined, as they carry seven outfielders on their current roster.

Hays is tracking toward his 100th career home run milestone, currently sitting at 84 home runs and needing 16 more to reach the century mark.
