Baltimore never trailed. The Orioles scored in each of the first three innings, kept pouring it on in the fifth, and held off a persistent Detroit lineup for an 8-5 win at Comerica Park.

Coby Mayo powered the attack, going 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. His two-run shot to left center in the fifth inning pushed the lead to 7-3, part of a three-run frame that also included a solo homer from Leody Taveras, who finished 1-for-5 with the long ball. Tyler O'Neill added another solo homer in the sixth, going 1-for-1 with an RBI in a pinch-hit appearance. Jackson Holliday set the table all night, collecting four hits in five at-bats, including a double, though he didn't score after his second-inning run.
The Orioles broke the game open early. Pete Alonso scored in the first when Taylor Ward grounded into a fielder's choice, giving Baltimore a lead it never relinquished. Baltimore tacked on in the second as Jackson Holliday scored on a groundout and Dylan Beavers singled home Mayo, then added another run in the third when Mayo's single drove in Taveras. The fifth-inning eruption, capped by Taveras's and Mayo's homers, turned a one-run edge into a comfortable cushion.
Detroit fought back behind Colt Keith, who went 2-for-3 with a double, and Spencer Torkelson, who drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and finished 2-for-3. Riley Greene and Dillon Dingler each scored a run, and Matt Vierling and Hao Yu Lee each drove in a run with sacrifice flies and a two-RBI single, respectively, but the Tigers could never draw even. Starter Keider Montero lasted 4.1 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits, and was tagged with the loss, falling to 7-6 on the season with a 3.34 ERA. Detroit's bullpen limited further damage, covering 4.2 innings with 2 runs allowed, but the deficit built early proved too much.
Baltimore's relievers were the difference in the final frames. Grant Wolfram earned the win, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts to improve to 3-2, and Rico Garcia closed it out with a scoreless inning and 2 strikeouts for his 5th save. The Orioles' bullpen combined for 4.1 innings without allowing a run. Baltimore improved to 52-55 and snapped a stretch with the win, while Detroit fell to 50-57, extending its losing streak to three. Torkelson's two hits left him one home run shy of 100 for his career.
